Romo Makes Incredible Birdie From Hospitality Tent

Pebble Beach Golf Links offers some of the most scenic views in golf, but on Friday at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am CBS football analyst Tony Romo found a vantage point that very few have over the years. 

Playing alongside Jim Furyk for the Pro-Am portion of the event, the scratch handicap blew his drive way right on the par-4 15th hole — so far right, in fact, that he had to hit a provisional ball.

After giving an interview to Mark Immelman, Golf Channel’s on-the-course reporter, Romo found his original drive had somehow come to rest in a hospitality tent that ran along the hole.

Romo grabbed a wedge and climbed the steps to the Applied Underwriters Champions Club, took stock of his options, moved some tables and chairs and nearly holed the shot for eagle.

The tap-in birdie was Romo’s third consecutive birdie, outplaying his pro over that stretch by three shots.

Despite Romo’s heroics, he and Furyk’s two-round total of 9-under par sits in a tie for 53rd with only the top-25 pro-am teams getting a second jaunt around Pebble Beach on Sunday. Furyk, who is at 4-under par over the first two rounds, is in a tie for 33rd, six shots behind a co-leading pack that includes Phil Mickelson and Jordan Spieth.
