Rory McIlroy: I’ve A Pea Head

Hats are a staple on the PGA Tour today. Not only does it protect a player from the sun’s harmful rays, but it provides a lucrative opportunity for sponsors to promote their brands for hours at a time.

However, the only real exception is the Ryder Cup. It’s the one event where sponsors take the proverbial backseat to the team, and the player has the option of wearing a hat (visor, etc.) or not.

While we have seen players in the past go sans hat, we were never really too keen on why. Maybe it was because of tradition, or as Rory McIlroy points out, maybe it’s because their hats don’t fit properly.

Rory was asked this question a few days ago…

…And his response was pure gold!
