SwingU Weekend Recap – September 30, 2019

SwingU instructor and social media personality Josh Kelley breaks down the weekend that was in professional golf.

The biggest story in golf this weekend was former NFL quarterback Tony Romo teeing it up in the Safeway Open at Silverado Resort and Spa, and his first-round 2-under par 70.

However, as Romo’s star fizzled before the weekend, Cameron Champ was able to pull off an emotional victory just 60 miles away from where his grandfather — the man who taught him the game — was battling Stage IV cancer.

Other weekend news of note included Tiger Woods revealing in an interview on Friday with Good Morning America that he had been cleared to practice in full following the arthroscopic knee surgery that he underwent last month.

“I got the clearance last week to start full practice, and so I played nine holes the other day,” Woods told Strahan. “It’s sore, yeah, but now I can start lifting and getting my muscle back and getting my weight up.”
