Team USA Practices At Hazeltine, Scouts Fourth Pick

For 11 guys, Team USA held a practice at Hazeltine on Monday. For Bubba Watson, Daniel Berger and Justin Thomas, it was more of a tryout. It appears one of those men, along with Mr. 58, Jim Furyk, will likely be the 12th member to round out the squad.

Davis Love III and company are in the process of making their final preparations with potentially the most important question remaining being, “who will receive the coveted fourth and final captain’s pick?”

The chosen one will be announced during halftime of NBC’s Sunday Night Football in Dallas.

In other Ryder Cup news, Team USA assistant captain Tom Lehman has assumed the role of team meteorologist. Clearly, the Task Force is leaving no stone unturned. According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, the Minnesota native has been studying the Farmer’s Almanac diligently so the Americans are prepared for the elements.

“The years I looked up — over 30 years, it was — it’s going to have some breeze,” Lehman said. “You may get lucky and have one of those beautiful 80-degree, five-mile-per-hour weeks, but those are pretty rare.” Blowing 10 to 15, 16, 17 (mph) was pretty normal, about 65 to 70 degrees was pretty normal. It will be cold in the morning, though.”

Talk about a home field advantage.
