Tiger Among Wealthiest Celebrities In America

Tiger Woods has plenty to be thankful for this holiday season. Aside from his improved health and ascendance back near the top of the Official World Golf Rankings, Woods’ return to competitive golf has proven to be incredibly lucrative as well.

According to Forbes.com annual list of America’s Wealthiest Celebrities, Woods increased his net worth in 2018 by $50 million to total $800 million, which tied him for ninth on the list with author James Patterson. Last year, Woods’ $750 million net worth placed him eighth on the same list.

The list is comprised of American citizens who have become rich off their fame, not famous because of their wealth, which puts Woods into a select cast of celebrities that includes George Lucas ($5.4 billion), Steven Spielberg ($3.7 billion), Oprah Winfrey ($2.8 billion), Michael Jordan ($1.7 billion), Kylie Jenner ($900 million), Jay-Z ($900 million), David Copperfield ($875 million) and Diddy ($825 million).

Over the course of Woods’ professional career, he has made more than $116 million in on-course earnings and $1.5 billion since 1996 thanks to additional endorsements, course designs and appearance fees. The net worth figure was estimated using previous lists and based upon lifetime net worth after taxes and spending.

Woods’ current endorsement deals include relationships with Nike, TaylorMade, Bridgestone, Monster Energy, and Hero MotoCorp.
