Tiger Denied Slice By Local Pizza Boy

Tiger Woods had a funny encounter with a local pizza boy during the Wednesday Pro-Am at The Famers Insurance Open.

Recounting the bizarre encounter following a second-round 2-under par 70 on Torrey Pines’ North Course, Tiger gave some insight to some of the burning questions that came out of the viral video, among those “why was Tiger Woods hankering for pizza at 10 a.m.?”

After teeing off on the par-5 13th hole on the South Course, Woods walked towards the amateur tees, but he was distracted by a nearby pizza stand. Before he could even make a request, Daniel Johnston shut Woods down.

“Um, they aren’t letting us serve right now,” he said.

As Brandon Stone of KUSI News noted, a food inspection was taking place at the time Tiger came to the Dang Brother Pizza booth, prohibiting the vendor from supplying Woods with a much-needed slice of pizza.

“We were looking for anything, we were starving. Joey (LaCava) didn’t put any sandwiches in the bag, didn’t have any bars, so we were all hungry,” Woods said on Saturday, according to GolfChannel.com. “A couple guys in the group were offering $20 for a box of pizza and we didn’t get any, so that’s the way it goes.

“They were filling out paperwork at the time to be able to (serve) and we were the first ones through, so I don’t know.”

Woods was able to score some chili a few holes later, according to the video on KUSI’s website.
