Tiger In Talks To Create Own Energy Drink

Tiger Woods is in discussions to get back into the beverage game. Two years after debuting his Monster Energy golf bag at the 2016 Hero World Challenge, Woods’ agent, Mark Steinberg, confirmed that the sponsorship has been extended and a new wrinkle in the relationship was in the works: a Woods-branded energy drink.

“We just extended the deal with Monster, and so we’re looking at what the next stages are of that relationship,” Steinberg told Golfweek.com’s Dan Kilbridge. “It’s been an awesome partnership and there’s been talk about potential of a licensed deal with Tiger and Monster. What that looks like and tastes like, we haven’t flushed that out yet, but we’re at least in discussions about it now.”

With a timetable of “the next few months,” Steinberg said that Woods is going to be very hands-on in the development of the drink that will bear his name.

“He’s at a stage in his life and career where he’s not doing those things without having heavy involvement,” Steinberg said.

This wouldn’t be Woods’ first foray into the beverage market. In 2007, PepsiCo Inc. inked a deal with Woods for a reported $100 million to roll out Gatorade Tiger. The drink was short-lived, being discontinued in November 2009 before Woods marital scandal made headlines.

Woods can often be seen on the course drinking from his Monster Energy water bottle and his caddie, Joe LaCava, wears shirts under his caddie bib that sport the Monster logo, according to Golfweek.
