Tiger Takes Blame For Ryder Cup Loss

Among the 12 members of Team USA who were disappointed in the outcome of the 2018 Ryder Cup, Tiger Woods was one of the most dejected with the defeat.

Coming off of his first PGA Tour victory in five years the week prior at the Tour Championship, Woods went 0-4 in his four matches, capped off by a 2&1 loss to Jon Rahm in Sunday singles.

Later that night, Woods was asked to assess his feelings on the week and he didn’t sugarcoat anything.

“For me personally, I went 0-4. Obviously very disappointing,” he said. “Those are four points that aren’t going towards our side. It’s going towards their side. To have a Ryder Cup end that way, for me personally, it doesn’t feel very good because I didn’t help my teammates earn any points.

“At the end of the day, we came here as a team and we win or lose, and unfortunately, we lost this one.”

The week was a letdown for many reasons, but chief among them was the form Woods brought into the week fresh off the win.

“It’s frustrating because we came here, I thought we were all playing pretty well, and I just didn’t perform at the level that I had been playing, and just got behind early in the matches and never got back,” he said.

Woods dismal Ryder Cup record falls to 13-21-3 over eight events.
