Tiger Woods Golf Ball Released

If there is any doubt that Tiger Woods is back, take Bridgestone Golf as a barometer as the company unveiled its signature Tiger Woods golf ball on Wednesday.

The company announced the release of its Tour B XS Tiger Woods edition golf ball. The packaging has Woods on the cover and a facsimile of his signature in the corner of the box.

The ball will feature a custom “TIGER” logo that replicates how Woods marks his golf balls in competition. The ball is identical to the standard Tour B XS model, which Woods uses on tour.

The new line will go on sale on April 1 with a retail price of $49.99 for a dozen. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the balls will go to benefit the TGR Foundation.

“We worked closely with the Bridgestone team to come up with a concept that benefits both golfers and my TGR Foundation, which is very important to me,” Woods said in a statement. “The TOUR B XS easily outperforms any ball I’ve ever played. It is incredibly long, but offers excellent feel and spin around the green, which makes me confident in any situation.”

The release coincides with Woods’ return to PGA Tour prominence after an injury-riddled last two years. The Tour has undoubtedly missed Woods, as the record ratings in the last two non-major events he played in have proved. This is a step for Woods back in the endorsement arena, and a good test for potential future sponsors, who left Woods in droves in the wake of his scandals in 2009.

Woods is back in contention on Tour, as evidenced by his heading into the Masters next week as the betting favorite, and is now also back again to hawking products. He has already committed to playing in a summer event, The National, and it’s starting to feel like old times.
