Knost Accidentally Snaps DeChambeau’s Driver

Bryson DeChambeau and Colt Knost were among a rash of PGA Tour pros at Preston Trail Golf Club in Dallas on Monday for a charity event benefiting Project Shelter, and the two Southern Methodist University Mustangs got themselves into a crazy predicament before the round.

With music playing on the exclusive club’s driving range, musician Kelley James filmed the aftermath of Knost and DeChambeau realizing that Bryson’s one-of-a-kind driver had been snapped.

“What just happened?!” Knost said in disbelief as DeChambeau came over laughing.

“I don’t know what happened,” DeChambeau said giving Knost a slap on the back.

James captioned the video, “Well… this just happened. @coltknost stepped on @brysondechambeau’s custom one off driver and snapped the shaft. I’m sure they have 40 of those in the pro shop Colt.”

Knost and DeChambeau set the record straight shortly thereafter in the comments of Golf.com’s repost of the video

“I didn’t step on it,” Knost wrote. “It was laying on (the) ground behind him and I went to pick it up and he stepped backwards right on the shaft as I picked it up and it snapped. Ask @brysondechambeau.”

DeChambeau confirmed Knost’s story, replying, “complete accident!!!!!”

What we need more info on is what exactly is going on with that driver. According to the tags from James’ post, it was an LA Golf Shaft with what appears to be a SuperStroke putting grip on it. Only Bryson.

DeChambeau is not in the field this week at the Wells Fargo Championship, so you would expect him to have a replacement ready for him when he tees it up in the next few weeks.
