Tour Pro Concedes Hole, Throws Club into Hazard

Life as a professional golfer isn’t always as glamorous as it seems; take Victor Dubuisson for example. The Frenchman has two European Tour wins, two top-10s in majors and he had climbed as high as 17th in the world golf ranking by the end of 2014. He also hit that absurd shot out of a cactus during the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship.

Since then, it’s been a struggle for the 27-year-old. He’s tumbled all the way down the OWGR to No. 169 in the world. The hits kept coming for Dubisson on Friday at the Saltire Energy Paul Lawrie Match Play when he was eliminated in the round of 32.

Already down three against German’s Alexander Knappe, Dubuisson found himself in a spot of bother on the par-5 12th hole. Needing to put the pressure on his opponent, Dubuisson hit a poor chip for his third, failing to get it on the green.

Knowing he was out of the hole, he singled to Knappe that he was conceding the hole and then in frustration, he lashed at his ball and threw his club into the hazard. Dubuisson ended up losing the club, and the match, 5 & 4.
