HARTFORD, CONN., August 1, 2014: BACK9NETWORK, the golf lifestyle 24/7 TV network and online destination, announced today the elevation of Charles Cox to Chief Executive Officer. Cox has been BACK9NETWORK’s Chief Financial Officer and Head of Business Development since he joined the company in 2012. He will guide the company as it launches on-the-air Sept. 29th on DIRECTV, raises additional capital, and negotiates growth on pay television platforms both in the U.S. and internationally.
“I’m excited for the opportunity to lead BACK9NETWORK, as we take the network from its conceptual vision to its launch as a viable 24/7 TV network for viewers, advertisers, and pay television distributors”, said Cox. “We’ve assembled a tremendous team from the top media companies in the country, and we are focused on creating the top television and online destination for the 25 million active golfers in the U.S.”
Cox replaces former BACK9NETWORK Chief Executive Officer, Chairman and Co-Founder Jamie Bosworth, who has resigned to pursue other career opportunities.

Additionally, BACK9NETWORK announced that President Carlos Silva will also assume the Chief Operating Officer role, responsible for all day-to-day TV and digital network responsibilities. Co-Founder Reid Gorman will be named Chief Administrative Officer & EVP, Golf Industry Relations. Gorman will serve as the company’s lead liaison within the golf industry, taking advantage of his relationships and years of experience as a senior executive within the golf community.
As CFO and Head of Business Development, Cox oversaw all financial operations, equity raising, affiliate sales, and business development. He led all DIRECTV carriage negotiations, the acquisition of Swing by Swing Golf and helped raise nearly $30 million in equity and debt for BACK9NETWORK. Prior to joining the BACK9NETWORK, Cox was the Director of International Finance and Business Development at ESPN as well as a media investment banker at Wachovia/Wells Fargo and a sports & entertainment attorney at Proskauer Rose.
Silva has served as BACK9NETWORK President since 2013, leading the day-to-day operations for the multiplatform company. Silva, with 25 years of experience building and selling TV and digital media properties, was instrumental in BACK9NETWORK’s progress across online audience growth, programming development and pay television carriage. Silva previously worked at sports investment bank Park Lane and before that was the President/COO and held Co-Executive Producer responsibilities at Universal Sports Network. Earlier, Silva held senior leadership roles at AOL Time Warner heading AOLSports, AOLNews, and AOLMoney.
Gorman co-founded BACK9NETWORK in 2010 and has served in multiple senior management roles during the company’s early development, during which he was instrumental in both raising capital and recruiting key media talent to complement the company’s golf industry-centric, founding management team. During his 20 years in the golf industry, Gorman has specialized in sales and operations for leading consumer brands, including his role as President of MacGregor Golf. Prior to joining MacGregor Golf, Gorman served in several leadership roles at Callaway Golf Company, including National Sales Manager for Callaway Golf Ball Company, where he launched the Callaway Golf Ball brand into the highly competitive golf ball category and later as Strategic Sales Manager, where he pioneered the development of a new department engaged in growing Callaway’s key account relationships with leading retailers.
