Golf Companies Evacuate Due to Carlsbad Wildfire

A number of the biggest golf companies in the world, including Callaway Golf and TaylorMade, house their main headquarters in Carlsbad, Calif. On Wednesday, many of those companies were evacuated due to the raging wildfire that is devastating the area.

According to PGA.com, approximately 15,000 homes and business have been evacuated in the surrounding areas. TaylorMade’s facility – which includes adidas and Ashworth clothing – joined employees from Callaway, Odyssey, Cobra Puma Golf, SKLZ and the west coast office of Titleist in the mass exodus.

The fire is said to have started due to a mixture of a record drought, extreme heat, heavy winds and low humidity. Deemed the Poinsettia Fire, the wildfire has damaged or completely destroyed a number of homes in the Carlsbad area and is spreading at approximately 400 acres per day.
