Sydney Leroux Fails, Then Succeeds in Happy Gilmore Drive

Sydney Leroux and the world No. 1-ranked U.S. women’s national soccer team are in Portugal for the 2014 Algarve Cup. The tournament kicks off next week, so Leroux opted to spend some down time Thursday at the driving range.

Naturally, the affable up-and-coming forward had a go at the oldest golf trick in the book (well, dating back to 1996): the Happy Gilmore Drive. It didn’t turn out so well.

 
Dare we say, “Stick to soccer, Sydney”? We would but then we saw this:

That’s rather excellent form. Nearly as good as some golf pros:

But not nearly as good as Gilmore. No one can top the originator:
