10 Professional-Sized Divots

 

Divots are a normal part of the game of golf at any level. The simple physics require a player to hit down to get the ball up. However, the only real differences between the amateurs and the pros are the size and consistency. Without further ado, here are 10 ridiculous professional-sized divots.

Jordan Spieth gets us started on with this dinner plate he gouged out of some wet turf back in 2015. He hit this shot so pure, it actually rattled the flagstick on the way down before caroming away from the hole. But how can that be with the size of the divot he took? This slow motion shot captures Spieth’s action through the ball demonstrating perfect contact before his club meets the ground. As soon as the ball leaves the face, his club meets the ground and easily glides through the soggy earth, maintaining the same shallow angle all the way through. The result was a perfect shot and a giant sized divot that flew about 20 yards itself.
